Hi all,
Have really struggled to get support to fully resolve our issues this week as we’ve had a few issues with a new carrier and I know they are busy too, so don’t want to have to ring them again this morning if I can help it and take up their valuable time. Hoping one of you can help please?
For context - We send a lot of items (hundreds/thousands a day) at low sales value per item. Our items are light, a few grams each, so the weight of the packaging we use is really important as a few grams extra can take us into the next weight tier charge with Royal Mail (example 99g may be 20p cheaper per item than over 100g). We therefore have setup all our product/item weights against each sku in the lookup file on packing partner to the gram so that they are all correct. Giving an incorrect weight to RM can often result in surcharges (wiping out any profit we make) and international customs rejections (meaning the item is returned and we make a loss). So it’s super important to get this accurate.
Since the update to the carriers this week and shipping rules however, the envelope weights are no longer included in the total weight when I go to generate labels (the were before the rules were changed and new courier introduced). To manually overwrite hundreds of weights 1 by 1 is an absolute nightmare. Does anyone on here know how to setup the envelope weight for a shipping service so that it is added to the total of the items in the envelope when o come to generate the labels (I can’t just include the envelope weight into the item weight in the lookup as often people will order several items at a time and I don’t want the envelope weight counted in the total more than once as it will push us into higher shipping costs). As I say - this worked up to last week, but it isn’t including this anymore, so I assume it’s a setting somewhere that I cannot find?

Thanks for the post Joe. The envelope / packaging additional weight is a custom feature done in script for you. We do have plans to have a feature for this within the software in future.
